Getting 'Tanked' @ the Marathon County Public Library

Marathon County Public Library wants to get 'Tanked'. (Wausau Daily Herald, 3/2/2012)

Excerpt: The Marathon County Public Library could be thrust into the reality show spotlight through construction of an aquarium for the television show "Tanked."

Library Director Ralph Illick has been in talks with Las Vegas-based Acrylic Tank Manufacturing, or ATM, to build a 750-gallon tropical saltwater aquarium in the Wausau headquarters children's section for the television show "Tanked." The show, which starts its second season in August on the Animal Planet channel, features brothers-in-law Wayde King and Brett Raymer, who run ATM and construct one-of-a-kind aquariums throughout North America.

The Wausau aquarium, which has not received final approval from Animal Planet, would cost $36,000 to build and $6,000 annually to maintain, and would be funded out of a $76,000 donation to the library from the estate of Phyllis Donner, a Wausau resident who died in May 2010.
