Mecklenburg County Commissioners to Vote on Budget Today

Link to June 15 Charlotte Observer article, "County budget ax falls today, $71 million in cuts likely to be approved

Excerpt: At their straw-vote session earlier this month, commissioners tentatively agreed to restore more than $14 million in planned cuts to some agencies.

Among the biggest benefactors were Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, which now faces a cut of about $15 million in the coming year, down from a $21.3 million cut recommended by Jones. The Charlotte Mecklenburg Library system also saw its cut eased by $3.5 million, leaving more than $10 million in reductions. The park and recreation department had about $1.18 million in cuts restored, but will still lose more than $14 million
