Academic Librarian Position Open at UW-Green Bay


Position: Academic Librarian

Essential Job Functions:
* Directly provide reference & research assistance to library users in-person and by phone, e-mail and chat.
* Schedule reference service coverage and provide in-service training and guidance to Reference working group staff.
* Hire, train, and supervise student reference assistants.
* Maintain reference collection including selection and deselection of materials in conjunction with Collection Management Librarian.
* Manages the library’s general access computer lab.
* Stays current on relevant trends in reference services.
* Explores new ways to reach out and promote reference services to all library patrons and potential patrons.
* Manage record keeping for reference services.
* Assists in developing, teaching, and evaluating information literacy and library instruction sessions, including some evening and weekend sessions as needed.
* Develops instructional materials as needed.
* Assists users with circulation, reserve, and interlibrary loan questions.

Required qualifications:
* MLS from an ALA accredited institution
* Minimum of 2 years reference and instruction experience in an academic library
* Supervisory and training experience
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to work cooperatively with others and accept direction from supervisors

Preferred qualifications:
* Government documents reference experience
* Experience working in a combined access services and reference environment or experience working in access services department
* Supervisory and training experience of student employees

Starting Date: July 2010
Conditions of Appointment: Position is a full-time appointment. Official transcripts of the highest degree achieved will be required of finalist(s). A criminal conviction investigation will be conducted on the finalist(s). Special Conditions of Appointment: Some evenings and weekends required.
