Your-worst-library-nightmare department.

From the article: The Hazel Brown Leicht Memorial Library in West Salem will be closed all this week and possibly longer after a stuck damper allowed frigid air into the heating system late Friday.

The frigid temperatures eventually caused a heating coil to break. Water came pouring down from the ceiling, dousing books and pooling on the carpet. “I’d guess we’re going to have to throw away 2,000 to 3,000 books,” said library branch manager Sharon Aldahl.

The library is a branch of the La Crosse County Library. Chris McArdle Rojo is the Director.
